I have not tried the recipe but reading it I noticed that the salt was off. 1 tablespoon of salt equals 3 teaspoons. Reading further in the recipe information technology states to use 1 teaspoon first and then a ane/2 teaspoon later on. So recipe should read 1 1/2 teaspoon divided, that would correct the sodium numbers, literally cut it in half. In saying this I am looking forrard to trying this recipe. Cheers for posting it.

I made these scallions pancakes the other day. My kids and wife loved them...I thought they were skilful, but not excellent. This was my first time making scallion pancakes, so that may have been a contributing factor. We order them from our local take-out places all the time, and they are usually a piddling bit more flaky from them (although not always perfect from them either): mine was a fleck dumbo/doughy. I have to acknowledge, I forgot to brush the oil on the pancakes before rolling them, then that may have contributed to the problem. We used plain soy cause equally the dipping sauce, only a sauce more than like ane used for dumplings would exist more appropriate. I would definitely brand these again, and would recommend this recipe. If I can get them a flake more than flaky, and if the original author would add dipping sauce recipe, I would requite this 5 stars/

I'k making these equally I'thou writing. Very uncomplicated recipe to to follow. I allowed the dough to balance for a expert 60 minutes earlier rolling it out again. I likewise added a little sesame oil to the canola oil that I brushed the dough with. I made a dipping sauce which consists of soy sauce, rice-vino vinegar, toasted sesame oil, garlic powder, and honey and sugar to taste. Topped with a few scallions it's an easy accompaniment to this recipe.

I liked this recipe, though I felt the pancakes were a wee bit heavy/doughy. I followed the recipe near exactly every bit written--only differences were I let the dough rest for most threescore minutes (needed actress time to stop mincing the scallions) and I used less salt. This recipe calls for Style too much salt--ane/2 tsp per pancake would be excessive IMO! I merely sprinkled a compression on each i before rolling. I wasn't entirely sure what was meant past rolling the gyre into a "disk"--I retrieve I did it correct, only that clarification makes me wonder. Served them with Trader Joe's Gyozo Dipping Sauce and bootleg egg drop soup. This was my first time making scallion pancakes, so maybe I'll try a couple other recipes and run across which I like the best. Thanks!

i tried this recipe. I institute the dough heavy and hard to work I would like to know what consistency of the dough should be? Mine was a breadstuff dough... Institute it hard to get it stretches out problems and thin. I followed the recipe. I did use bread flour. Possibly information technology was too heavy.

I actually liked these pancakes. They came out very well! Next time, I would like to attempt a blend of sesame oil and vegetable oil to brush them with.

Made the pancakes tonight and they came out pretty good except that they were as well salty even though I cut the common salt back to ane one/two tsp. My husband liked it as well.We would both like to see a good dipping sauce recipe along with it. Thanks!I would make it again..it was as good as any eating place pancake.

Wayyyyyyyyyyy too salty. I'm pretty sure I followed the instructions correctly, but WOAH. I would recommend either not putting any salt in the dough rounds with the greenish onions, or just put much less. The actual flavor would have been very good, only the salt was just so overpowering.

Once you form the coil/rope into a disc, gyre it out to no more than 1/four" thick, and then fry it. The flavor is fine.

I use to make a cease in Flushing,NY for scallion pancakes every time I had to make a run to JFK. Been craving this since I moved to the VI. This was right on! Unproblematic and easy!

I tried this for the first time today. The dough was viscid fifty-fifty after I permit the dough sit. Once I got some flour on information technology, information technology was fine. It rolled out well with but a little contracting. The method of rolling and folding ensures an even distribution of scallion. I didn't find them all that flavorful by themselves but with some sauce, they were excellent.

Would make them much thinner next time. 1/2 inch thick rounds seems awfully thick.

I added a bit more salt, and used a combination of sesame oil and vegetable oil inside. Proficient, volition endeavor again.

I really enjoyed these pancakes! Soft, chewy, and yummy - excellent condolement food for mid-week. I retrieve the central to soft, pliable dough and pancakes is one) avoid adding extra flour during kneading (the dough is very viscous at outset but firms up after a few min) and 2) maybe reducing the kneading time - I stopped at 6 min b/c I had a nice elastic dough at that point; much longer and information technology may have gotten tough. Also, I am reducing my rating by 1 star b/c I remember some of the measurements are off in this recipe. I was very glad I had read previous reviews and drastically reduced the salt - I ended up adding 1/2 tsp to the dough, and sprinkling some on with the scallions during rolling. Equally written it would have been way as well salty! I was likewise puzzled past the specified 1/2 inch final rolling thickness - the pancakes look much thinner in the pictures. I ended up rolling to about 1/4 inch thickness. Overall, I would definitely make these again with the modifications.

Good recipe. I substituted chickpea flour for half the flour and added cumin and sesame seeds. Next time I'll use sesame oil to add together to the flavour. I didn't think the salt was too excessive. They were even good cold. Thinking of eating the leftovers for lunch with goat cheese.

Very tasty! I couldn't believe how well they came out the first fourth dimension. My boyfriend had a hard time believing I fabricated them myself. On my second go, I learned the hard way that you lot definitely have to let the dough sit down- the longer the better. I'd likewise suggest getting the water as hot equally possible. As for dipping sauce, I'd suggest Trader Joe's Soyaki sauce. It makes for the perfect accompaniment.

My pancakes turned out awesome. Brushed on some sesame oil with the scallions to enhance the flavors. I also sprinkled some finishing salt and used a couple of dipping sauces to further heighten the dish.
